Shearing Weekend

Come and join us for our annual Alpaca Shearing. Check out the transformation from fluffy to naked! Price is per person (ages 5 and under are free).

We are happy to open our doors to the public once again for our 15th annual Shearing Open House. A Shearing Open House is what first attracted us to Alpacas almost 20 years ago, and we want to continue making this amazing experience available for everyone to witness.

This year we will be featuring a charity BBQ run by the Belwood and District Lions Club. You can also visit our five day old chicks, and several Lions Foundation Dog Guide Puppies-In-Training.

The BBQ will run from 11-2pm each day, and we aim to start shearing each day at 10am and run until all of our alpacas are naked.

To ensure you can see us still shearing animals please make sure you come early; after 14 years we've gotten pretty efficient and we might be done before 4pm each day. If you have been to the farm before for a tour, this event is focused on shearing so there will not be any in-pasture visits with the animals nor will you be able to feed them. You will however, be able to see the whole process on how we shave the animals and check out the beautiful fibre they produce.

We're also asking all visitors to bring a non-perishable donation to the Centre Wellington food bank as all proceeds on our shearing day are donated back to our community, and there are many families in need right now.
